| The
God Horus is, in reality a composite god: the
earlier falcon-Horus with the sun being his
right eye and the moon his left and the later
God Horus who was the son of Isis and Osiris.
The Horus who emerged retained the falcon symbol
and the associations with majesty and power but
he also figured in the afterlife rnyths of
Osiris.

| Anubis
was the god of the Underworld and Guardian of
the Tombs. One of his roles was to comfort guide
and sustains the souls of the deceased until the
moment of divine judgment. This figure shows
Anubis seated on a hieroglyphic-decorated shrine
and is a replica of the statue found in the tomb
Tutankhannun in the Valley of the Kings. Anubis,
in later times became identified with the
Osirian afterworld and was said to be the Son of
Nephthys by Osiris. He was later adopted by Isis
and assisted her in recovering and embalming the
body of her husband

| The
worship of deity Anubis was thought to have
originated at Thinis near Abydos, but spread
early to most parts of Egypt. The jackal is a
desert animal, the Egyptians associated Anubis
with the western desert, the home of the dead.
Here we see him sitting on hieroglyphic
