of Aton, or Aten, the sun god that he believed

the crocodile deity, was worshipped everywhere
throughout Egypt in the Twelfth Dynasty. His
most important sanctuary was in Upper Egypt at
Kom Ombo. In Osirian belief Horus was said to
have taken the crocodile form in order to
retrieve the parts of Osiris's body cast into
the Nile by Seth.
